A Pile of Feedback
from Alicia McKenzie
Hey, all,
Well, I'm extraordinarily behind on feedback, as usual, so here's some for (in no particular order): Trisha, Kielle, Indigo, queenB, Andraste, Timesprite, Phil Hartman, Pebblin, Shai, Mari Rose, Mel, and Dande.
Trisha Lynn Sebastian, 'The Lady Is A Tramp' - A lovely little vignette with a very vivid take on both of my favorite characters. Short, in this context, is most definitely sweet. I'd love to archive this, Trisha, if you'd give me permission. :)
Kielle, 'Hop, Skip, Jump' - Well, I said I'd like to see a happy - or at least not mortally depressing -Shadowlands story, and was I ever thrilled to see this. :) A great choice of characters, fabulous imagery--and Kielle not only sent it to me in HTML for the Shadowlands archive, she sent it to me in perfect HTML that all I have to do is upload...<happysigh> An absolutely superb story, one of the very best of the Shadowlands fics so far. :)
Indigo, 'Survivor's Sojourn' - I don't LIKE the Doctor. Quit making me like the Doctor, Indi! ;) Seriously, another brilliant Authority fic - you really must write these characters more often, Indigo. It seems perfectly woven into the space between panels, and its sympathetic, yet realistic take on the Doctor is fascinating. I'd like very much to put this up on Allegiance, if you agree. :)
queenB, 'Arearea' - Wooooooow. I was left quite literally speechless the first time I read this fic. Then I turned around and read it twice more, just to savor all the subtle little touches. This story--glows, in a way that's very hard to describe. Jean and Betsy are vividly drawn yet utterly human. The very best post-Twelve Saga fic I've read yet, and a striking answer to the 'what happened to Jean and Betsy's powers?' question that's intrigued so many of us recently. I'd like very much to archive this on my general X-Men archive which is currently still under very heavy construction...please? :)
Andraste, 'Fishing Trip' - Charming, absolutely charming. :) I'm very fond of dialogue-only pieces, and this one was just captivating, especially considering how clearly the voices of the characters involved came through. I'd like very much to put this one on my general archive, as well, if you agree? :)
Timesprite, 'The Prosecution Wins' and 'Love (And Other Indoor Sports)' - Well, you already know what I thought of your first foray into Cable/Dom fic, and so as not to repeat myself, let me just say that you're only getting even better with more practice. :) I adored both of these, and would very much like to put them on the Dayspring Archive along with 'After Long Years', please? :)
Phil Hartman, 'Number One, With A Bullet' and 'Hot Zones' - I loved both of these, for your usual sense of humor and their rewrite of histories that SHOULD be rewritten, darn it! :) I'd like to put the former on the Dayspring Archive and the latter on Allegiance, if you'd be so kind as to give me permission, sir....;)
Pebblin, 'Not That You'd Have Noticed' - The only time I stopped grinning and/or giggling as I read this were the few times I stop and went 'ooh'. See, Pebbs has this sneaky way of inserting startling little bits of insight in the midst of humorous moments, and this fic is a brilliant example of THAT particular talent. Since I've already gotten permission to snag this one for archiving, I just thought I'd take the opportunity to say 'well done' once more...:)
ShaiPeriHawk, 'Now Everything Has Changed' - One that I've meant to feedback for quite some time.....:) This one is so sad, and deep, and real....one of those stories that hits you right where it counts. I'm very grateful that Shai chose to share this with us, and I'd like very much to archive it on my new site, Shai, if you'd give me permission. :)
Mari Rose, 'During The Night' and 'Everything Has A Price' - I'd toyed with the idea of writing a few stories based on the Milennial Visions posters myself, so I lept on these when I saw them, and am I ever glad I did! :) A very gripping writing style, and nicely-done adaptions of the idea-lets from the comics. :) Since once has a mention and the other quite a bit of my boy Cable, I'd like to archive them both on the Dayspring Archive, if you agree. :)
Mel, 'Finding Yourself' and 'A Short Shower' - Well, I got to see these before they got posted to the list--I've already feedbacked Mel privately and gotten archiving permission, but I had to put in a plug for them while I was at this. 'A Short Shower' is quite simply one of the cutest things I've ever read. If you need a giggle, or even just a smile, go and read it right now. :) As for 'Finding Yourself'....I was just stunned by this piece. It was brilliantly written, deftly characterized, and almost heartbreakingly sad. This one is going to be a privilege to put up on the Shadowlands archive, that's for sure, and I highly, highly recommend it.
Dande, 'The Philosopher's Stone' and 'Stand The Hazard Of The Die' - All right. Again, I've feedbacked Dande privately and gotten archiving permission for these, but they, just like Mel's, are very much deserving of all the public plugs they can get. Dande's taken an unexpected and wonderful concept (no, I won't spoil; read them!) and fleshed it out with as much skill and brilliance and real emotion as we'd expect from such an accomplished writer. I love the world Dande's begun to outline, and I'm dying to see more of it. :)
There. :) I feel a little less guilty now about having soaked up all this wonderful fic and not registered my deep appreciation with these incredible writers. Read all of these stories, folks...they're very much worth it...and send some feedback of your own! :)
