This was yet another series that spawned itself from a one-shot. Nothing unusual for me, of course, but rarely do I have a series which insists on ending in a manner so completely different from what I had planned. Sometimes I look at this, and then at the Paladin Trilogy, and wonder which is actually darker. The two share something besides the tone, actually; because of how this ended, I made a decision to end the Paladin Trilogy a little differently than I'd planned. (And no, I'm not spilling the details about the original plan. At least not here.;) This was a painful series to write at times. When I finally finished it, I felt almost like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. I sometimes wonder why I continued it, all things considered, but there are just some stories that suck you in and won't let go. The ones that take the bit in their teeth and run are hard to resist, especially when you're like me, and not possessed of a lot of willpower in that area. Someday, I'll continue this. Magneto's tale is still left to be told--I never intended to leave it where I did forever. There's too much potential left to explore. One 'movement' is done, but the story itself is far from over. I suppose this is where I insert my usual refrain..."So many stories, so little time.." Did you find yourself reaching for the kleenex box, reading this? If you did, I'd love to hear about it . ;)--Alicia

This series completely blew me away when it was first released. What Alicia has done here is astounding. She takes you into the hearts and souls of these characters, and breaks your heart in the process. I'm not ashamed to say I cried when I first read it. It still has the power to make me weep. ~ JenMorrioghan
